I had been eyeing this fun community event for a few years but have always been so busy on that day that it wasn’t until now that I FINALLY got to scoop my family out of bed the Saturday before Halloween and get them over to the Longmont community parade!

And I have to say, I didn’t know what to expect. But is was an absolute blast!
Longmont hosts a series of fun parades throughout the year but Halloween has to be one of my favorites. The way the community all comes together and there is so much creativity and fun energy on a beautiful fall day is beyond fun!

With about 5,000 people there, it was quite the party. And certainly a way to boost the economy of downtown Longmont!
We lined up with our family next to Roosevelt Park about 9:45 am, and then parade started at 10am. We bumped into bumble bee, Centennial State Ballet, Beetle Juice, Moana and SO many other fun characters. I love how creative folks get decorating their wagons and strollers as part of their ensemble and it is a lot of fun.

As we started to walk the parade, one of my kids expressed disappointment in not being able to see the parade. So I LOVED that they do a U-turn on main street so that we can participate but also get to basically see the entire parade at the same time! After all, I couldn’t have captured so many fun moments otherwise.

And of course, what would a parade be without plenty of marching bands! Mead High School, Silver Creek High School, Skyline High School and many more.

Some seriously “Thrilling” dance moves from a zombie crew from Centennial State Ballet! Performing the Thriller.

After we finished the parade, we did some trick or treating to participating businesses on Mainstreet and it is such a fun way to peek in and get a vibe for all these local shops and what they have to offer #shoplocal.

From taco samples, to decorative stones, candies and coupons. There is plenty of fun to be had overall the Saturday before Halloween in downtown Longmont.
So what are you waiting for. Come out into the community and put a smile on your face. And while you’re at it, practice that waving, “elbow, elbow, wrist wrist wrist, wipe a tear and blow a kiss!”
See you around Longmont!
